In 2018, our founder Mr. BIRUNGI CHARLES was concerned about the growing number of impoverished children in Bunyoro Region. Inspired by his mother’s work with orphaned children called Ms. ROSEMARY KUNIHIRA from an orphanage called mustard seed babies home, Mr. CHARLES developed a concept of providing impoverished children with sense of Security and belonging through community based care. He opened up a center as a safe haven which created a secure, supportive environment, where children escaped harm or stress and developed their potential. It provided them with a space to play, learn and feel secure. The center offered a range of support services like homework help, tutoring, after school care to reduce the risk of involvement in negative activities, recreational activities, free meals and clean drinking water, school supplies, mentorship and emotional support. The center helped to bridge educational gaps, fostering social skills and provided access to resources that children and their families lacked in their homes with a mission to fight generational poverty. The center created a strong and positive relationship with children and young people. Understood who they were, what their interests were and what things were important to them in their lives. This was done by demonstrating empathy, active listening and consistent engagement, leading to the name ‘RAPPORT” Originally, Rozmary Rapport Foundation (RRF) Limited operated in Hoima city but later it extended its services to Kitoba sub county, Hoima District.
